Grand Jury Report Calls For Denser Housing and Cities To Work Together Better

A Santa Clara County Grand Jury that has been tasked to address the lack of adequate (affordable) housing in  Santa Clara County and the fifteen cities within the county. Their 45 page report was released on June 21st and included 39 “findings and recommendations” that centered on the fact that we need far denser housing options in the valley.

The highlights are:
Cities need to work together, often in “sub regions.”
Development bonuses near transit hubs
Create new employer fees

“Higher densities are a necessary solution, but cities are not fully embracing this solution in the face of resident resistance, and a lack of funding, land and urgency,”
