Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)

Trump supporters love to use the “Trump Derangement Syndrome” to explain why so many in the mainstream media and people on social media are quick to attack Donald Trump. It is used to show that they are not logical and are overly emotional. Many on social media have countered to use “Trump Derangement Syndrome” or “TDS” to explain the rabid support for Trump no matter what he does. It seems like both sides are getting more and more virulent in either their support or condemnation. This is not surprising as Trump seems to tweet many times per day items that are not only severely un-Presidential, but sometimes what many people call “insane.”

This graphic purports to show the seven stages of TDS, but it is this author’s suggestion that TDS does indeed go both ways and that it seems like there is no end in sight for Trump becoming more mellow so the escalation of TDS is likely to continue unabated.

There has been much focus on Trump for both the initial election cycle as well as his entire time in office. But perhaps we should be concerned that with all of this focus on Trump, is this a purposeful distraction so that the media is not focusing on what Trump appointees are doing, what Congress is doing and what is happening on the global stage?

In this one, it is a political cartoon by Ben Garrison. It is a bit surprising as it seems like he has “switched sides” a bit compared to what he used to draw. But perhaps this is his view of being “balanced.”
