An Excellent Backgrounder on Chicago’s Gun Violence

The City of Chicago has had an epidemic of shootings that have been easily matching those of New York City. But New York is far larger and seems to have had at least some level of success in reducing some of the gun violence. But Chicago has been in a downward spiral with no sign of it letting up any time soon.

There is some excellent investigative journalism seeking to uncover some of the issues. This is led by “The Invisible Institute and The Intercept. Please follow these for some very credible depth and breadth that you will not find with mainstream media.  All you will see of reports are 50, 60, 70 or more shootings in a single weekend.

The Invisible Institute, in partnership with The Intercept, investigates the corruption, racism, and violence of the Chicago Police Department.
